Measuring the Impact of FFA

I have deepened my connection with nature and my understanding of how to preserve it.
Learning about environmental stewardship will me teach the next generation how nature works, and why it’s

GROWING IMPACT
New Lothrop Area Public Schools proudly stands apart by offering a high-quality (FFA) program, a unique opportunity that isn't available in every school district. The high school FFA program immerses students in agricultural education and offers them hands-on experiences in animal science, horticulture, and agriscience. The impact is profound, while FFA is focused on agricultural education, it is motivating New Lothrop students by providing leadership development opportunities and a sense of community. With 105 members strong, students are caring for pigs, lambs, and chickens, in addition to collecting data to learn about Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), a key metric that measures an animal's efficiency in converting feed into a desired output, such as meat, milk, or eggs. Students in this program are simultaneous scientists, using critical thinking, mathematics, and science skills as they prepare reports for start feed, end feed, average bird weight, and total all live bird weight. FFA students are flexing skills in teamwork, leadership, and technical skills that will well prepare them for future careers, whether in agriculture, business, science, or beyond. Community service is woven into the program too, students annually donate to the local food bank, helping them to experience what it means to give back. We are incredibly proud of FFA students, they’re building a strong work ethic that will impact our future as leaders, innovators, and stewards.
